Creative Corner in area libraries

Visit a local library and you might notice a new corner designed to inspire your entrepreneurial spirit.

The Beaver Valley LaunchBox partnered with the Beaver County Library System to establish Creative Corners in each area library.

The Beaver Valley LaunchBox is signature program of Invent Penn State. LaunchBox provides resources to foster entrepreneurship and innovation in the region with an objective to spur economic development, job creation and campus-community collaboration. The initiative offers community members and students no-cost programs and support to launch their ideas into fruition.

“We want to increase awareness for LaunchBox and get people involved in it,” Jade Wiatrek said. Wiatrek is a senior business management and marketing major at Penn State Beaver who is the marketing intern for LaunchBox.

The concept of the Creative Corner came from Hailee Atkins, a recent Penn State Beaver graduate who was a LaunchBox intern.

The corners include posters, pencils, bookmarks, puzzles and an FAQ sheet about LaunchBox.

Senior Sophia Kramer, a recent corporate communications graduate and digital intern for LaunchBox, said in addition to increasing awareness, the goal of the corner is to “get people thinking about how they can be their own boss if they have any creative ideas they want to pursue.”
